If you don’t know about LA ReUseIt: you should:

This is a Yahoo Group of about 15,000 (that continues to grow) that encourages recycling of virtually everything under the sun (furniture, computer peripherals, baby clothes, canned food, pet supplies, bikes, moving boxes – you name it!) to keep these items out of our landfills and I think, to inspire all of us keep our homes “clutter”-free and make ends meet just a little more easily – and creatively!

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure has never been more true!

You may also request items. After inspired by Rod Rotundi’s great three-day Leaf Raw Retreat, I requested a dehydrator – and lo and behold! Someone gave me one that retails for like $90 that they’d used ONCE! (I haven’t used it yet ;/ LOL! but I’m going to!) I’ve seen people request such specific things as a baby’s Halloween costume for a photo shoot (I mean, really, how many times would someone actually use one of these? 🙂

We’ve donated lots of “like new” items: an IKEA table and four chairs, bankers boxes galore, a nice redwood patio table, a rolling microwave/printer/TV stand – you get the idea.

Every item offered and requested on these groups must always be FREE, legal and appropriate for all ages. No services or non-tangible items. These are no strings attached organizations, so all you do is Offer or Request – no explanations are ever necessary! You choose who gets your items, they’re yours to give away! I’ve seen “quickest response” (or pick-up time) to “best story” – kind of fun! You’re anonymous ’til you share any info – and many people just give an address where they leave it out on the street for pick-up – so you don’t even have to adjust your schedule.

Anyway, there are many smaller, more geographically-specific area groups groups of apparently the nationwide group CA ReUseIt. I thought I’d share some of these (and related) links ’cause it saves time and gas if you’re in a smaller vicinity.
