Book Reviews |
I’ve been reading filmmaking books for decades and have never seen such a clear and succinct guide for crafting your logline, summary, synopsis, treatment, business plan, lookbook, and pitch deck. This book is fantastic! Following these steps would reduce a lot of the queasiness writers/producers feel about packaging their pitches. This book is backed up by industry experience and research, combining what others have said along with her own inside knowledge. Whether you’re getting ready to send off an email to a potential collaborator or pitching to an investor, having this book on your side will make things a whole lot easier. Storytelling is easy, but “storyselling” has always been hard until now!

Heather Hale balances her tour de force of a book with story crafting with navigating the broad production landscape. She does it all effortlessly and makes it all accessible. I especially liked the Advanced Marketing and Deliverables section, showing how to comprise pitches and get them noticed, then made. This is wonderful, and essential. I also believe it to be timeless, no matter how much the terrain changes, this is a navigable blueprint for success, and getting your stories for people to see.
